8 miles!!!

April 11, 2009
Inspiration Point, Nimitz Trail, Berkeley CA

I was not at all in the mood to wake up in the morning and go for the run. I was tired from the previous day, I wasnt getting enough donations and I was a little demotivated to be honest. But I saw the beautiful pics of Inspiration Point and thought that I should go just for the views and I am happy that I went. I reached early and started the run at 8:15 or so. I was initially planning to do 6 miles but when I reached the 3 mile marker I felt I can do another 1/2 before going back and then another 1/2. So I ended up doing 8 miles. Nimitz trail has a rolling hill landscape, you are continually climbing up a hill or coming down one. It is rarely flat. The views are gorgeous. You can see the Golden Gate bridge at one point. It is beautiful out there. To all the Bay Area folks, if you want a beautiful hike or stroll, that is one. It was green and the lakes were shining with water. There were cows on the trail too :) I loved the run.

Though by the end I hardly had the energy to walk. I have to get a fuel belt or something, the weight of 2 bottles of water is too much to carry on your back. And 8 miles is the farthest I have ever been. *Pat on the back* 5 more to go. I did it in 1.47 btw. Great run, great people and great views. I am motivated again :D
